Introducing Our August Featured Maker: Siobhan McArdle
Exploring Contrast, Connection, and Creative Evolution
We’re thrilled to welcome Siobhan McArdle as our Featured Maker for August here at DesignYard. A 2021 graduate of the DCCI Silversmithing & Jewellery Design programme, Siobhan has been quietly making waves in the world of contemporary jewellery, crafting pieces that are at once poetic, sculptural, and deeply thoughtful.
Siobhan continued her education across Europe working with master craftsmen in Denmark, Florence, and Rome. Now based between Rome and Galway, her work draws on a rich internal dialogue between structure and softness, decay and growth, darkness and light. Across her collections, Siobhan explores how jewellery can be more than ornament—it can be a tactile reflection of mood, memory, and meaning.
The New Collection: Embrace
Dropping online on July 29th, “Embrace” is Siobhan’s most intimate and expressive body of work to date. Created in collaboration with stylist and creative partner Laura Cooney, the collection introduces softer geometric forms, flowing silhouettes, and experimental use of glass—a material chosen for its fragile appearance and resilient nature.
“Embrace is inspired by fragility and our bond with the natural world,” says Siobhan. “It challenged me to push into more fluid, feminine territory—combining the organic with the architectural.”
At the heart of this collection is the concept of ambedo—a moment of quiet immersion in sensory details that brings heightened awareness of life’s fleeting beauty. This introspective energy runs through each hand-sculpted piece, inviting us to slow down, to feel, and to reconnect—with ourselves and with the natural rhythms that surround us.
“Embrace” will be on show at DesignYard from August 4th to 30th, before heading to Romania Jewellery Week in October.
A Look Back: Commence
Before “Embrace,” Siobhan introduced the striking “Commence” collection—an earlier chapter in her exploration of personal and creative transformation. Inspired by the process of becoming, “Commence” reflected themes of resilience, rebirth, and movement. Textured surfaces, carved forms, and strong silhouettes embodied the push toward self-definition.
Each piece in “Commence” was crafted with a quiet strength—reminding us that growth often comes from struggle and that beauty can rise from uncertain beginnings. While “Embrace” turns toward softness and flow, “Commence” offers grounding and clarity, making the two collections beautifully complementary in their emotional depth.
Why We Love Her Work
Siobhan McArdle’s jewellery speaks to more than just aesthetics. Her pieces are tactile poems—objects of introspection, emotion, and embodied presence. Whether you’re drawn to the fluid curves of Embrace or the bold contours of Commence, each design carries a sense of stillness, storytelling, and quiet power.
At DesignYard, we’re honoured to support Siobhan’s journey and showcase the evolution of her voice through these collections.
