Diamonds are the birthstone for the month of April, meaning that April-born ladies and gents have an extra reason to ask for gifts of sparkling diamond jewellery (or buy diamonds for themselves).

But for those of us not lucky enough to be born in April, diamonds continue to be a popular choice for our engagement rings or jewellery. The reasons for this are plentiful and not just because diamonds are one of the most aesthetically pleasing gemstones.

Although most people think diamonds are colourless e.g. white, diamonds are available in a wide range of colours including yellow, pink, blue, green, red and even black.
