Face-on, a large navette-shaped aquamarine commands your attention, with glimpses of pink sapphire at either side. Tilt the ring slightly and its secret emerges: a field of micro-pavé pink sapphires becomes visible through the aquamarine, transforming the composition as your viewpoint changes.
This iteration of Da Capo’s Embrace series explores the feeling of being held securely and wrapped in warmth. The elongated aquamarine hovers over an anti-clastic, concave section set with pink sapphires. Its mirror-like facets make the gemstones beneath part of the view, bringing the embrace into the aquamarine itself.
The effect draws on Lee Harding’s precision as a microscope setter and his understanding of gemstone optics. Each element has a role: the platinum holds the aquamarine securely, the curved sapphire field surrounds it with colour, and the cut invites you to keep looking.
