Manu’s journey started back in 1987 with husband and wife team Ilse Ebert and her husband Horst. He, the businessman – she, the artist. Ilse was always on the lookout for something new, full of imaginative ideas and young at heart, even at an advanced age. As an advocate of contemporary jewellery culture, Ilse Ebert placed particular emphasis on affordable jewellery. Though she is less involved with the day-to-day of the business, she continues to nurture and inspire the team’s passion, style and attitude.

Today you will find Johannes Weege at the helm. Like founder Ilse Ebert, he is always looking for new ideas and has a strong connection with customers and the jewellery sector, viewing it as an opportunity for collaboration and exchange. His learnings help guide the designers and hone the collection to suit current customer desires.
Manu - Sterling Silver 22k Yellow Gold Satin Leaf Bangle - DESIGNYARD, Dublin Ireland.

The Manu design and production team consists of an intimate group of designers and goldsmiths, who create two new collections each year. Each team member brings their own personal charm and craftsmanship to the table, which results in a broad variety of styles. Nevertheless they present a cohesive collection through their commitment to precision and quality, use of bi-metals throughout all their designs, and also strict adherence to Manu founding principles of affordable, contemporary jewellery to be worn everyday.

Whether you’ve fallen for a beautifully designed bracelet, alternative engagement ring, or statement necklace, Manu designs are almost exclusively constructed by hand from sheet and square wire. This in itself brings design challenges for their often voluminous work with fluid lines. Because they do not take advantage of larger production processes like CAD and casting, you are guaranteed that every piece is made by hand from start to finish and produced in only very small runs.
