A Halloween favourite that inspires many a spooktacular piece of jewellery

With the exquisite vintage ring above as an exception, I'm generally not too keen on spiders. However their intricate and finely spun webs are simply gorgeous and offer much inspiration for contemporary jewellery.

Many of our designers use fine metal wires to create incredible structures that result in simply fabulous pieces. From fine wire necklaces, layered or woven chains, through to age-old chainmail, our website is full of great choices. Here are a few examples to get you started.

Chainmail is technique for weaving fabric like materials from small metal rings, that is still embraced by contemporary designers. For example Simon Harrison uses chainmail as the base of his fabulous leopard bracelet, whereas NAIIAD lets the beautiful pattern of tiny rings do all the talking in her elegant mermaid bracelet.

Layering or weaving fine chains can lead to spectacular results, like in Myriam Oude Vrielink's woven Ribbon necklace or Claudia Milic's Popular Siara necklaces.
