Australia’s native gum nut is a recurring theme in Shimara Carlow’s work. Here she has used traditional silversmithing skills to bring you this beautifully raised silver vessel. The hammermarks are a testament to the work that goes into forming this delightful piece, which amazingly started out as a flat sheet of fine silver. The textured exterior and jagged rim are beautifully contrasted with a warm yellow gold plated interior. This highly tactile object is fascinating on its own or paired with its wider sibling.
